I just read an article about how writing heals and it is so true! So does sharing through talking. They have done research and proved that people who write in a journal about how they feel during trauma actually have better health in the following months than those who don't. They showed that keeping secrets promoted sickness and sharing feelings promoted health. Wow ... It would be interesting to look at family structures instead of individuals in that light. I have relatives that have kept secrets as long as I have known them and they do seem less healthy than others. Writing and counseling have always helped me get through difficult times but it's nice to have concrete research to back up my life experiences.
Speaking of life experiences, a pet peeve of mine is having to deal with slow checkers at the store, especially when it is over 100 degrees outside and I have to shop after work when I'm already tired. I think stores should screen their employees more carefully and put them in jobs within the store that better suit their abilities. I have often experienced this irritating problem in Walmart, and it is especially frustrating during the peak hours, when the store is already packed with people who then have to wait longer than necessary in lines. I am convinced that there is a gender difference because I have experienced it over and over again. Maybe that sounds sexist but I have found it to be true. Rant over ... :)
